The 2012 Outstanding Student Poster (OSP) Award is awarded to Alexander Osadchiev for the poster/PICO entitled:

Alexander Osadchiev is currently finishing his PhD supervised by Dr. Peter Zavialov at Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, Moscow. His research focuses on the interaction between ocean and continental inflow, and in particular on spreading and mixing dynamics of river plumes. The poster presented at EGU General Assembly 2012 describes the developed Lagrangian model of a surface-advected river plume (STRiPE model). The computationally unpretentious model was applied to simulate the plumes at different spatial scales and used to study some general aspects of the plume dynamics. The poster shows the results of investigation the dependence of the spatial extent of a plume of small size river on the wind stress and Coriollis parameter.
