The 2018 Outstanding Student Poster and PICO (OSPP) Award is awarded to Mathieu Le Breton for the poster/PICO entitled:

Landslide displacement monitoring with passive RFID (Le Breton, M.; Baillet, L.; Larose, E.; Rey, E.; Benech, P.; Jongmans, D.; Guyoton, F.)

Mathieu Le Breton is a PhD student in geophysics at the Earth Science Institute (ISTerre) at Grenoble University, France. He works within the Risk and Environmental Geophysics team at ISTerre and the consulting company Géolithe.
Mathieu works on landslide monitoring, to better observe their activity, understand their dynamics, and protect civil infrastructure users. The awarded poster presents and validates a new technique to monitor landslide displacements that works with a high spatial density and under all weather, using low-cost Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) passive tags. It should allow high quality monitoring on risky sites that could not afford expensive instrumentation.
