Alexandra Urgilez Vinueza is starting her second year as a PhD student at the Water Management department at Delft University of Technology, Netherlands. Her research aims to study the influence of hydrology in the occurrence of landslides, focusing the attention in the hydropower dams’ reservoirs of the Ecuadorian Andes. The presented work shows the different landslide mechanisms that occur in Guarumales, a deep-seated landslide in Ecuador. The deep groundwater system, as well as perched groundwater found in the landslide are associated with different patterns of movement over 18 years of studied data.
