The 2022 Outstanding Student and PhD candidate Presentation (OSPP) Award is awarded to Lieke van der Most for the poster/PICO entitled:

Extreme impacts in the European renewable electricity system as a result of climate variability (van der Most, L.; van der Wiel, K.; Bintanja, R.; Benders, R.; Leenes, W.)

Lieke van der Most is a PhD candidate at the Energy and Sustainability Research Institute Groningen of the University of Groningen in collaboration with The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute. The overall goal of her research is to gain insight into the robustness of the changing European electricity system (current and highly renewable system) under present and future climatic/weather conditions. To address this complex, multidisciplinary issue she combines large ensemble climate data with energy production and demand models to assess climate variability and pinpoint compound and extreme impact events in the electricity system.

She received this award for the presentation of her preliminary results on extreme impact events in the European renewable electricity system as a result of climate variability where she discussed the co-occurrence of extreme impact events between countries, the meteorological conditions during those events and the impact of climate change on those events.
