At 12:30 pm on 21 January 2020, the European Geosciences Union (EGU) will be hosting its first-ever webinar, which will focus on the union’s open access journals.

In partnership with Copernicus Publications, the EGU publishes 19 peer-reviewed journals that span the Earth, planetary and space sciences. Not only are these EGU journals open access, but they also provide a discussion forum that allows an open review, open discussion and transparent evaluation.

The webinar will explain this interactive, public peer-review system; the role of the EGU’s Publication Committee; how to publish your research in an EGU Journal; and briefly outline the new EGUsphere. The Webinar will last approximately 30 minutes, with an additional 15 minutes for questions from participants.
Speakers will include:

• Alberto Montanari, EGU President and Professor of Water Engineering and Hydrology at the University of Bologna
• Katja Fennel, Chair of the EGU Publications Committee and Professor of Oceanography at Dalhousie University
• Martin Rasmussen, Managing Director at Copernicus Publications

Hosted quarterly, EGU webinars will offer our members the opportunity to learn about EGU activities or gain new skills from the comfort of their own homes and offices. All webinars will be free for current EGU members. Each session will also be uploaded on the EGU YouTube page after one week to allow anyone who is unable to join the live session to still benefit from the information.
