Home / Education / Educational resources / Iceberg hunting: how well can we predict the distribution of icebergs?
However, predicting the path of an iceberg is surprisingly difficult. At the University of Manitoba in Canada, Dr Juliana Marson is using numerical models to understand how icebergs move and the impact they have on ocean processes and ecosystems.
Home / Media Library / Simulated water elevation for two tsunami scenarios
Simulated water elevation (compared with wave elevation at the source) for the earthquake-induced tsunamis at the Southwest of Crete (top) and the East of Sicily (bottom). Water is shown in yellow to red and land is in grey. Home / Awards & medals / Outstanding Student Poster and PICO (OSPP) Awards / 2019 / Elena Serra
Elena Serra is a PhD student at the Institute of Geological Sciences and Oeschger Centre for Climate Change Research, University of Bern (Switzerland). Her research aims to improve the understanding of paleoclimatic conditions in the western European Alps since the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), by using paleo-glacier reconstructions and high-altitude sediment deposits as paleo-climate proxies.
Home / Awards & medals / Outstanding Student Poster and PICO (OSPP) Awards / 2019 / Layla M. San-Emeterio
The awarded poster presents preliminary results from the application of this analytical approach to complex samples from different origin and expertise fields. Challenges due to environmental and analytical uncertainty are also presented in terms of the technique used, in order to prove its suitability.
Home / Awards & medals / Outstanding Student Poster and PICO (OSPP) Awards / 2018 / Ricarda D. Rohlfs
Andreas Luttge. She currently works on the ResKin project (Reaction Kinetics in Reservoir Rocks) funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Ricarda’s main research interests are algorithm design and computational modelling of water-rock interaction, reaction kinetics and the prediction of complex surface processes.
Home / Awards & medals / Outstanding Student Poster (OSP) Awards / 2015 / Maurits Metman
The presented poster was part of his MSc thesis, in which he aims to reconstruct the paleomagnetic record of the last 300 Myr in terms reversal frequency, by applying changes in the core-mantle boundary heat flow from mantle convection models.
Home / Awards & medals / Outstanding Student and PhD candidate Presentation (OSPP) Awards / 2023 / Bryan Marinelli
It then compared violations of these thresholds, when groundwater abstractions caused fluxes to drop below the critical levels. The findings from his research will aid in the development of a dynamic water allocation scheme that will ultimately be integrated in a global-scale model.
Home / Awards & medals / Outstanding Student and PhD candidate Presentation (OSPP) Awards / 2023 / Nicolò Anselmetto
In particular, he applies statistical spatial models such as species distribution models (SDMs) and landscape models to explore the effects of climate change and land abandonment in the Alpine region.
Home / Structure / Elections / EGU Election Autumn 2016
The EGU Election Autumn 2016 for the next Treasurer and Division Presidents was closed on 30 November 2016. We would like to thank each of the candidates for their initiative in standing for the election. We also sincerely thank all those EGU members who used their voting right. Active participation in elections ensures continuation of the well-established bottom-up structure of our Union! In total, 1777 EGU members voted in this election.
