ST Networking Campfire - how to successfully apply for research fellowships

Writing a research grant proposal can be a challenging task, especially for those who are new to the process. Nevertheless, a well-written proposal can increase the chances of receiving the necessary funding for your own research and can help to gain scientific independence. The Early Career Scientists (ECS) team of the Solar-Terrestrial (ST) division of the European Geophysical Union (EGU) is organizing a campfire, where Dr. Mateja Dumbović will share her experience-based knowledge on how to successfully apply for research fellowships, giving, at the same time, some advice and recommendations.

Afterwards, there will be a networking session, where you will have the opportunity to meet and interact with fellow ECS members of our division.
The event will take place online (via Zoom) on Friday 22 March 2024 at 14:00 CET and will last for 1.5 hours.

Tentative program:

-  Welcome and introduction.

- Dr. Mateja Dumbović’s talk about what she has learnt on applying for research fellowships.

- Q&A with Interactive discussions.

- Networking time in breakout rooms.

- Concluding words.

Speaker:

Dr. Mateja Dumbović has performed significant scientific studies on different aspects of solar-terrestrial sciences, covering both observational and theoretical approaches. Her most important contributions are on the modeling and observational study of cosmic ray modulations and Forbush decreases caused by coronal mass ejections (CMEs) and co-rotating interacting regions (CIRs), on drag-based modeling of the interplanetary CME propagation and on their geo-effectivity. After her PhD, Mateja was awarded a prestigious Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions individual fellowship, to perform a project on “Forbush decrease model for expanding CMEs affecting Earth and Mars (ForbMod)”. In addition to her scientific contributions, Mateja is active in community engagement in our field as a frequent peer-reviewer in a number of prestigious journals and as a member of 3 NASA review panels.
