The 2015 Outstanding Student Poster (OSP) Award is awarded to Adam Holt for the poster/PICO entitled:
Overriding plate thickness control on subducting slab curvature (Holt, A.; Buffett, B.; Becker, T.)

Adam Holt is a PhD student at the University of Southern California, under the supervision of Prof. Thorsten Becker. He uses numerical models to explore how the mechanical properties of subducting and overriding plates affect slab morphologies, plate/trench velocities, and the style of induced mantle flow. The awarded poster shows that, for a visco-plastic subducting plate rheology, the overriding plate thickness plays a strong role in dictating the curvature of the subducting slab.
