28 October 2022 MUNICH – Peering inside common atmospheric particles is providing important clues to their climate and health effects, according to a new study by University of British Columbia chemists. Secondary organic aerosol ( SOA ) particles are ubiquitous in the atmosphere and play an important role in air quality and climate.

Since 2020, he has expertly led a successful and well-received session on subsurface storage. In 2022, he organized a session dinner where the extremely fruitful discussions could continue, leading to new collaborations and the development of new networks within the EGU community. He is currently coordinating editor of a Geological Society of London Special Publication on subsurface storage, which resulted from the EGU session on subsurface storage he convened in 2020.

The application deadline is 1 June 2021 . Successful applicants will be informed by 1 August 2021. The final teaching packages must be submitted by 1 April 2022. All proposals will be reviewed based on the above criteria and the scientific and pedagogic merit, timeliness, relevance, and feasibility of the project, and all decisions are final. Before EGU , Gillian worked in the Communications team at a multinational pharmaceutical company, and prior to that, in the healthcare team of a global public relations agency, and a reputed peer-reviewed medical journal. Feb 2022 – Dec 2022 Berit Schwichtenberg Berit joined the EGU office in early 2022 as the first Editorial Manager, supporting the work of our 19 Open Access journals, our preprint server ( EGU sphere) and the Publications Committee. As the first person to hold this position, she has been actively involved in shaping and directing the tasks of her new role.

This paper changed the way many of us think about, and how the community prepares for, heatwaves, such as those decimating much of the northern hemisphere in 2022. In recent years Schär has been pushing the boundaries of climate modelling by descending to the kilometer-scale resolution in global models. This capability was made possible by large-scale increases in computational power through innovative code migration to graphics processing units.

EGU’s Policy Priority Area 2022-2024, Biodiversity : selected by the EGU’s Science for Policy Working Group and approved by the EGU Council, the EGU’s Policy Priority Area will allow EGU to provide specific scientific information to policymakers where it is most needed. All activities will be co-ordinated by the EGU’s Biodiversity Task Force.
